Sunday Kind of Love xiv

tumblr_static_1ahxvwgfplxcw4ggwo84wscog_640_v2

This week was very hard for those of us suffering from depression. Rest in the sweetest peace to Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain—advocates for women and inspiring individuals. Check on your strongest friends—some of us hide behind confidence.

If you need help, know that some of us ache for you, and know you. Please reach out to the Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Read this article to learn more. We love you. We want you here.

We shouldn’t have to lose our idols to open up the conversation about mental illness and suicide. I know the above gif might seem a little flippant, but we have to normalize and destigmatize talking about mental health. Talkspace is a great resource for the uninsured or those too busy to commit to regular therapy appointments.

On a more positive note, I wanted to share some of the more positive things that have been running though my mind this week:

I need every single goddamn thing on this entire page immediately.

This is the best scone recipe on the planet. People love them.

Very excited to check out the Turf Tavern while I’m in Oxford.

I’m reading The Golden Compass, The Weirdstone of Brisingramen, The Dark is Rising, and The Lord of the Rings for my Oxford class and it’s been such fun to dive back into these fantasy classics. I’ve already finished The Hobbit and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

Michael and I are rewatching The Office from the beginning and holy guacamole is the finale emotional. I don’t even care if this is an unpopular opinion: American > British every damn day. When Michael showed up I *screamed*. Dwight & Angela’s wedding song is a string arrangement of “Sweet Child O’ Mine.”

The new season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is out and *very Metallica voice* nothing else matters.

I’m absolutely buying this rice cooker, bringing my total of pink appliances up to…five?

I want this SO SO SO SO badly! Liz Phair is my queen.

I’m thinking of getting this kit because maybe, just MAYBE, I’ll actually start food prepping.

Wishlist Wednesday [Everlane]

I freaking love Everlane, you guys.

If you haven’t heard of it, it’s a transparent clothing and accessory brand that sells well-made basics that are so stylish it’s criminal. I’ve been a fan for years, but they’ve expanded a lot recently and are starting to get that podcast sponsorship buzz, baby!

Their stuff is definitely pricey by fast-fashion Forever 21-esque standards, but Everlane pieces will last you years. It’s a perfect place to start your capsule wardrobe, something I haven’t done but really, really should. Everlane, to me, symbolizes the shift into investing in “grown-up” clothes. A very stylish grown-up with a sense of whimsy!

Here’s what I’m lusting over currently:

They just rolled out the denim short and denim skirt and I need both delivered to me immediately. Can we talk about how perfect that skirt length is?

Someone plz deliver these poppy-red sandals to my house in a size 10, stat.

Say yes to this yellow dress. And the shorter version!

The pink heels of my dreams.

Obviously I just have a thing for yellow, because these shorts are so dreamy.

I know I’m predictable af when it comes to pink, but this tote bag needs to join my handbag family.

If you think I’m above wearing a fanny pack, you’re dead wrong.

Is 2018 the year I finally ditch real bras? These are a compelling reason to make the change.

Pretty sure I would wear this dress every day of my life.

You know I love a denim jacket.

Do I need this anorak for England?

Another super cool thing about Everlane is the Choose What You Pay section. As it states on their site, “It’s not a sale—it’s better.” Basically, they reduce the price of an item and tell you how much profit they’ll make from your purchase. The lowest price, usually, allows you to buy the item almost at cost. This is how I snagged my favorite canvas tote during the earlier days of the site.

So, there you have it. One of my favorite brands, out here changing the world. Ethical fashion is so important—my pledge for 2019 is to make exclusively ethical purchases. Check out Everlane: it’s like a beginner’s guide to dressing like a total boss.

Oh, P.S. they do sell men’s clothes too, so suit up your mans!

Wishlist Wednesdays [Rebecca Minkoff]

I’ve been an RM fan for years! Rebecca Minkoff‘s aesthetic is modern, boho, and slightly punk. Her stuff always reminds me of spring—when the moto jackets come back in full force and the sandals emerge from the bottom of the closet. Her Spring ’18 stuff is so good, guys! Here’s my current wishlist.

Spring ’18 collections are on point. Check out the Bree Circle Bag in Blossom  and the Straw Circle Tote.

I’m sorry, I didn’t hear you correctly—did you say an iridescent bag tassel that is also a lightning cable?

I know that selling feminism for $58 is problematic, but it’s nice to see mainstream brands and designers embrace an unapologetic message! These Grl Pwr & Feminism tanks are so cute.

Can’t go wrong with a classic! Peep the Julian Backpack, the bag which I’ve been floundering about buying for like 5 years, in leather and nylon.

I need the Candace Sandal in Pink like I need air and water.

Give. Me. All. The. Moto. Jackets.

I am nearing 27, which means I have near constant baby brain, and oh my damn, this baby bag, y’all.

Any fellow Star Wars fans in the house?

This watch is a classic. P.S. Are you sensing a theme that I really love pink?

They make stuff for boys too, in case you wanna spruce up ya man’s accessory game.

Check out the RM Superwomen. #GirlPower

Until next time,

Wishlist Wednesday [MANGO]

If you haven’t noticed yet, I am a serial window-shopper. Online shopping brings me peace in an otherwise chaotic world. Or it’s just a distraction, as posited in the shoe ads joke from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (if you’re reading this and haven’t binged this show yet, get the hell out of here and do so—use my Amazon Prime password if you need it). IN ANY CASE, I always love learning about new stores to feed my habit (I’ve already memorized everything on the Madewell site because I am a complete psycho).  Enter MANGO, a Spanish company (look out, Zara!)

MANGO has the cutest stuff, from basics to over-the-top faux fur coats. I’m sure it’s all deeply unethical fast fashion nonsense, but hey, I’m window shoppin’ here! Check the links below for my Spring ’18 moodboard.

  1. Spring is in the air! Specifically the air in and around this dress. Apparently it’s going to be 70 degrees today, making it especially cruel that I’m not wearing this.
  2. Lilac. Palazzo. Pants. What deity designed these, the thought of which consumes my waking hours?
  3. I would like to be buried in this jumpsuit. I will accept no substitutes.
  4. What is the career that involves dressing like this? That is the career that I want.
  5. Any Stranger Things fans out there? Have I got a non-dorky fan tee for you!
  6. I am 100% that obnoxious girl that owns shirts with French words on them for no reason.
  7. How DARE an emerald green faux fur coat exist without me owning it? I feel like the universe has failed me, up until this moment.
  8. Gimme dis bag right meow.

So much cute, so little money. Story of my life.

What looks are you thinking for Spring?

xoxo,
